It is official, Christmas is just around the corner and Poole will be celebrating this by switching on the Christmas tree and all the Christmas lights at 5:00PM this upcoming Saturday, 30th of November.
This free event will take place at Falkland Square and will have entertainment for families starting from 12pm to 6pm as a run up to the lights. Visitors will be able to walk around Poole High Street and the Quay and watch its Christmas trees and lights twinkle to life. Some activities will feature a snow machine, children’s entertainers and face painters.
As a bonus, the Christmas lights will be switched on by English football manager and former player Harry Redknapp, alongside the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Sean Gabriel. Harry Redknapp managed teams like AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United, Portsmouth, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City. Redknapp also played for West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur in his youth.
And if that did not get people in the festive spirit, visitors will be able to see Santa arrive by boat and walk through the town at the Santa Parade (7th of December) and Santa on the Quay events (8th of December), where you will also be able to take part in workshops and make your own festive decorations. Additionally, to close the festive season, a Christmas Movie Day will be held on the 21st of December which will screen movies like ‘It’s A Very Muppet Christmas Movie’, ‘Ice Age’ and ‘The Santa Clause’.
Other perks include late shopping nights on Thursdays from the 28th November (8AM to 8PM) at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, free parking on Thursdays and Sundays, and free buses from Creekmore Park and Ride (8AM to 6PM). A good way to kickstart the Christmas Season!
