International Women’s Day is an annual day held once a year on the 8th of March, where women’s achievements throughout history as well as across nations are honoured worldwide. Additionally, it is also a United Nations Day for International Peace and Women’s Rights.

As this special day is approaching us with more speed than we might’ve expected it to, you might wonder, where or how should I celebrate this wonderful day? Well if you don’t have any ideas, we’ve got you covered!

There are loads of exciting events happening around Bournemouth this weekend, so you can just have your pick:

Women’s Community Impact Awards

Where: Talbot Heath School for Girls

When: Saturday 7th March from 15.45

Organised by Arts for Survival Community Interest Company, the Women’s Community Impact Awards will have a symposium and a gala included in the company’s project as a yearly celebration of International Women’s Day. Awards will be given to women who have made a positive social difference in the community. Drinks will wait for you at the reception along with lots of entertainment, a superb dinner, twelve-award category ceremony and empowering workshops. Tickets start from £25 for an early bird and can go up to £60 for a VIP ticket. Standard and VIP tickets are also available for bigger tables. More information can be found on their website.

International Women’s Day Talks

Where: The Pavilion, Bournemouth

When: Sunday 8th March from 10am to 4pm

Another option would be to go to attend some inspiring talks, where it will all be about beauty, wellness and balanced health habits. Passionate Professionals and speakers such as Dr Irena Daniles from SkinID Clinic or Katherine Kimber from Nude Nutrition are some of the guests who will be waiting for your burning questions on the day. If you want to locally encourage and inspire societies to feel beautiful again, then this is the perfect place for you. Relaxing, Restorative Yoga Class

If you feel like your life is hectic enough and, instead of celebrations and parties, you would just like a break from your chaotic and tiring routine then you can nourish your mind & body for an hour, at the yoga event held on Sunday at Russel Court Hotel by Sonia Sharma for £4.80.

SOBO International Women’s Day

Where: Outset Bournemouth

When: Sunday 8 March from 10am to 4am

Lastly, there is the SOBO International Women’s Day. Outset is working with local entrepreneurs around Southbourne at this free, special showcase of amazing entrepreneurs, female business owners and fitness professionals. Additionally, yoga sessions, beauty sessions and zones for massage therapy will also be included. Organised by Sassy Smith from Cloudless Coaching and with support from Outset’s funded business programme ‘’Back Her Business’’, it aims to bring together powerful female business owners to show their work and services. You can participate too by promoting your own business or come along just to network, but one thing is certain: you won’t regret it.
