Deer to Pier Fun Run

Tis’ the season to be charitable!

What better way to do just this than running from Bournemouth to Boscombe pier and back again in support of Autism Wessex and Stable Family Home Trust!

Autism Wessex and Stable Family Home Trust are charities with similar interests, who together make a powerful team who aim to make a difference in the local Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole areas.

A bit about Autism Wessex….

Autism Wessex is a leading regional charity supporting children, adults and families affected by autism across Dorset and the surrounding areas. This charity was founded by parents of children with autism, and are unique because they retain an intimate and often innovative perspective in everything they do.

A representative of the charity, Sara Armstrong, has said “what we’re talking about is helping people have the best lives”.

A bit about Stable Family Home Trust (SFHT)….

SFHT offers a range of services for people with learning disabilities and their families: supported living in residential homes, development programmes, domiciliary support and support to find employment.

Sara Armstrong came and joined us today in the Nerve Studios to let us know just how excited she is for this amazing event that she has been working hard to try and promote.

Their Deer to Pier Event

The event takes place on Sunday 8th December at pier approach, Bournemouth, at 2:30 pm and will provide a magical, fun experience. Absolutely everyone is welcome to join the herd and hop, skip, run, or stampede their way from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier and back raising sponsorship for both local charities. Anyone who joins in the fun will get their own set of reindeer antlers complete with a flashing red nose, that will add the finishing touch to any festive fancy dress – which you are all invited to wear, the whackier the better!

Sara Armstrong, of Autism Wessex, and Tracey Hickford, of SFHT said “We are so very excited to be hosting our first joint festive fundraising event. Our Deer to Pier fun run will provide a fantastic chance for all the family to have some festive fun together whilst raising funds to help children, adults and their families affected by autism in our local area.  There will be live music from HOT Radio to get you in the mood for the holidays as well as your chance to have your photo taken with Autism Wessex’s very own mascot, Fidget the Cat!”

Speaking to Sara ourselves in the studios, Sara stated “It warms our hearts how much support we have received from all the different organisations that have got involved. These include Nerve Media, Preston Redman Solicitors, Gym Tin, Hot Radio, The Works, Aruba and Bournemouth University. It’s been overwhelming how willing people have been to support us in this event”
