Fans are campaigning to get Viola Beach to Number 1 in the charts with their single ‘Swings & Waterslides’.
Viola Beach, the four piece band, were in a car accident, along with their manager, Craig Tarry, on the 13th of February 2016. All five people in the car died.
They were on their way back to the UK after taking part in a music festival in Sweden.
The band were the support act for Blossoms during their 2016 tour.
The two bands were playing a number of small venues in various locations.
At the time of the accident, the band were on their way back to perform at The Boiler Room in Guildford, Surrey.
Blossoms and Viola Beach were set to play at The Old Fire Station on the 18th of February.
Who are Viola Beach?
- The four piece band officially formed in Warrington in 2015
- Members included: Kris Leonard – guitar and lead vocals, River Reeves – guitar, Tomas Lowe – bass, and Jack Dakin – drums
- The released their first single, ‘Swings & Waterslides’ in 2015
- The BBC played them through their ‘BBC Introducing‘ segment
- The band played at Reading and Leeds Festival last year on the BBC Introducing Stage
The band came in to the BBC for a Maida Vale Session to perform a number of their songs.
