Organisers have revealed that Lionel Richie will be performing at Glastonbury 2015.
Soul legend, Lionel Richie, will perform on Sunday the 28th of June in the teatime slot on the Pyramid stage. The American singer/songwriter is famous for his records such as All Night Long and Hello.
Richie, who has sold 100 million records worldwide, has expressed his excitement to be performing at Glastonbury which he has described as being one of the most iconic festivals in the world. The Sunday afternoon slot always sees industry leaders performing such as Dolly Parton last year.
Over 150,000 people will be going to Glastonbury 2015, which is the largest greenfield festival in the world. The festival, organised by the Eavis family, takes place on Worthy Farm in Somerset, which is only an hour and a half drive from Bournemouth.
2015 will mark the 33rd festival which has been going since 1970 when it saw acts such as David Bowie. The £225 tickets for the June festival sold out in only 30 minutes back in October.
The performance will be part of Richie’s 2015 European tour named ‘All The Hits All Night Long’ which starts in February.
Richie tweeted the news to his 200k strong following earlier today, saying:
Fans took to the social networking site to announce their excitment too, including none other than Piers Morgan, who because of this news, may now make his Glastonbury debut:
