CLOSED: Nerve Awards Applications!

The Nerve Awards offer an excellent opportunity for all students involved with Nerve Media to showcase their talent and receive recognition for their hard work over the past academic year. Although Nerve Media is made up of several different departments, the Awards will offer a platform for everyone to celebrate their achievements together.

WHO CAN ENTER?

Anyone has been involved with Nerve Media during the past academic year can enter for an award. You can also submit entries for as many categories as you want! Don’t hesitate to enter for the awards, as anyone can win!

The deadline for applications has passed. If you apply now, your application will not be counted. Find out if you won at the Nerve Awards at the Old Fire Station on Friday 27th May at 7pm.

NERVE ONLINE AWARDS

BEST ENTERTAINMENT WRITER

Have you written an entertainment article this year? Whether it’s a film review, feature or music interview, as long as it’s entertainment, you can enter to win the coveted Best Entertainment Writer award! Simply send the link to your article with less than 150 words telling us why you should win!

BEST FEATURE WRITER

Features has stormed Nerve Online this year with the inclusion of #MidweekMunch and #TravelTuesday! If you think your feature article is one of the best, send us less than 150 words telling us why with a link to your article!

BEST FASHION WRITER

Be crowed the Best Fashion Writer with this trendy award, telling us why your article is the best in less than 150 words along with a link to your article. Whether its an event review, a fashion feature or a trend spotting report, we want to hear from you!

Judged by Head of Online:

  • Best Newcomer
  • Outstanding Commitment to Nerve Online

HOW TO APPLY

Send 150 words telling us why your article is the best alongside a link to your article. Send this all to rebecca.p@nervemedia.org.uk with the name of the award you are applying for in the header. The last two awards will be judged by Head of Online so DO NOT APPLY FOR THESE AWARDS.

NERVE RADIO AWARDS

BEST ENTERTAINMENT

Do you present on daytime? Do you have amazing games? Are your shows very funny? If so, this award is for you. Send us in a three-minute demo of your best bit for a chance to win this award. Previous winners have gone on to present shows on Capital!

BEST MALE

Do you present a show on your own? Are you male? This is the award for you? If you think you are the best male presenter on Nerve Radio, send us your best bits!

BEST FEMALE

Do you play the best hits, have the best stories or most entertaining show? If so, it sounds like you may be Nerve Radio’s best female presenter! Send us in a 3-minute demo of your best bit to be in with a chance of winning!

BEST NEWCOMER

Is this your first year on Nerve Radio? Have you really enjoyed it? Well, we would love to give an accolade to an individual who’s loved being part of the Nerve team this year! If this sounds like you please send us your best bits on a three minute demo!

BEST SPECIALIST/EVENING

This is for you evening people! Are you the best DJ at Nerve? Do you play the freshest beats? Do you play the best games? We’d love to hear an entry from you! Please send us your three-minute demo to be in for a chance to win!

BEST SPORT SHOW

Are you the next Jeff Stelling? Do you present the best sport show? We want to hear from you! Nerve is lucky to have some incredible sporting coverage, but we want to crown the best sport show.

HOW TO APPLY

If you fancy a Nerve Radio award with your name on it, all you need to do is send us a demo under 3 minutes long of your best bits from this year.

If you don’t know how to make a three minute demo panic not. Deputy Station Manager Jack Clarke will be in the studio to help you! If you need a hand contact him on Facebook!

Judged by John Cushing, Group News Coordinator, Global, this category is for a student news reader who deserves particular recognition for their overall presentation style and skills, including written stories and rapport delivery of bulletins. Include one example of your best on-air output (Maximum audio entry length is 2 minutes. Please name it with just your surname eg- Tijou.mp3). Also include 100 words about your work with Nerve News to sarah.t@nervemedia.org.uk

BEST NEWS WRITER

Judged by Jake Simons, the UK Associate Editor (Global) of Daily Mail Online Editorial, this category recognises one outstanding writer who has demonstrated a strong ability to produce well-executed and multi-platform work for Nerve News Online.

To apply, send ONE of your best online stories as well as up to 100 words telling us how your stories were produced with particular emphasis on the way it was arranged, researched, and presented. If you would like to apply please email sarah.t@nervemedia.org.uk.

The following awards can be entered by anyone who has been published in Nerve Magazine between September 2015 to May 2016. They will be judged by specialists within their chosen field and the winners will be announced at the Nerve Awards. You can enter for more than one award (but only submit one article for each award please). Good luck!

To apply, please send a high quality PDF of the entry to laura.g@nervemedia.org.uk. Please write in the subject line – ‘Nerve Awards – Award Name – Your Name’. In the email please include approximately 100-150 words on your inspiration for the piece, the coverage it received, whether it has the potential to be built upon and your overall experience and (hopefully) enjoyment of working on it. If you do not have access to a PDF of your article please get in touch anyway and we can discuss other options.
