#5ForFreshers: Five Drinking Games For Pre-Drinks

Although drinking is not for everyone, those of you who do will know that it is an essential part of the pre-drinks part of the evening to get some awesome and funny games on the go not only to get drunk, but to embarrass your mates and laugh at them! As a third year, I have played my fair share of drinking games. Now I will impart my wisdom onto you.

1. Ring of Fire

An absolute classic which most of you will already know! The aim of the game is to not draw any of the Kings, but none of you know where they are! To play you will need a pint glass and a pack of cards and your mates! Here are the rules:

A – Waterfall – Everyone must keep drinking until the person who picked the card stops. So who knows how long you will be going for!
2 – is Choose – You can choose someone to drink
3 – is Me – You must drink
4 – is Whore – All girls drink
5 – Thumb Master- When you put your thumb on the table everyone must follow and whoever is last must drink. you are the thumb master till someone else picks a five.
6 – is Dicks – All guys drink
7 – is Heaven – Point your finger in the sky, whoever is last must drink
8 – is Mate – Choose someone to drink with you
9 – Rhyme – Pick a word such a dog and the person next to you must rhyme with dog, like log, and it goes to the next person and the next, in a circle, until someone messes up and he or she will have to drink
10 – Categories- Pick a category such a football and you go in a circle and everyone has to say a word that fits with football such as touchdown, field goal, USC. Whoever messes up, drinks.
Jack – Make a Rule – You can make up any rule that everyone has to follow, such as you can only drink with your right hand. Everyone (including you) must follow this rule for the whole entire game and if you disobey you must drink.
Queen – Questions – Go around in a circle and you have to keep asking questions to each other. Doesn’t matter what the question is, as long as its a question. Whoever messes up and does not say a question, drinks.
King – Pour! – You must pour a little of your drink into the cup that is in the middle of the table. Whomever picks up the LAST king must drink the whole cup, which could be filled with different drinks, so who knows how bad it could taste!
Now that you know the rules. One person starts off by picking up a card, and whatever the card may be, follow the rule. Go in a circle and keep picking a card till the last King is picked!

2. T-Rex

This is a hilarious drinking game that will have your whole friend group giggling! Everyone places their drink in front of them on the table or side. You then all pin your hands to the sides of your chest like a t-rex and you have to keep them there. You must now try drinking your drink in this way!

3. Roxanne

The Police released a great song called Roxanne in the 70s which essentially repeated the name Roxanne many, many, many times. The aim of this game is to stick the song on at a party or pre-drinks and wait to hear them sing the name, Roxanne. Every time they do, you must drink! Simple!

4. Mushroom

All you need for this is a pint glass and a pack of cards! You place the pint glass on the table and then put three cards on the top to start to create a platform on the rim of the glass. The other cards are then placed in a ring around the pint glass. The aim is to then place one card at a time onto the edges of the other cards (only two edges can touch at a time), this should slowly form a mushroom shape… you do not want the mushroom to break or the circle to break around the glass. If you break the circle you drink, and if you drop the mushroom you finish your drink!

5. Picolo!

This is an app you can download on the app store! You register everyone’s names into the game and it will come out with whacky silly activities for you to do and drinking forfeits! There are even different modes including getting crazy and Caliente for those of you more daring…

So go have fun! Remember to always be safe when drinking and don’t put yourselves in danger!
