Dua Lipa leads the way as Brit Awards 2018 nominations are revealed

MTV Live Taping @ Nova York

Breakout popstar, Dua Lipa, scored five nominations for this year’s Brit Awards – a record for a female artist, and the most of any artist in 2018.

The nominations for this year’s Brit Awards have been announced and Dua Lipa has secured the highest number of them, even beating pop sensation Ed Sheeran.

Lipa quietly began introducing herself in the music industry after being signed by record label, Warner Music Group.

She released her first single, New Love, in 2015, followed by Be The One – with Hotter Than Hell and Blow Your Mind (Mwah) coming later on in 2016.

After releasing her debut album in 2017, Dua Lipa released New Rules which undoubtedly propelled her musical career, earning her UK #1 for the first time.

The break-up anthem accompanied by a female empowering video became the first song to reach #1 by a female artist since Adele – spending two weeks at the top of the UK charts, as well as taking the rest of the world by storm.
