The new E4 Dating show ‘Celebs Go Dating’ has received criticism after using the dating app Tinder to advertise its latest series.
Many Tinder users were excited and shocked when TV personality Ferne McCann appeared in their swipe feed.
However, after enthusiastically swiping right and matching with the star, they soon discovered that their hopes of a celebrity date were too good to be true.
Upon matching with Ms.McCann an instant message was sent to the Tinder users, stating:
“Well hey there gorgeous. If you think you can handle this Essex girl, watch me on Celebs Go Dating. Monday at 10pm on E4.”
This left many Tinder users confused and disappointed, with the realisation that Ferne had no intention of dating them.
They then took to twitter to voice their annoyance at being catfished by the E4 advertisement…
John Shepherd (07/02/2017) tweeted: “Thought I’d matched with @fernemccann on Tinder. Nope, promo posts for @E4Tweets Celebs Go Dating! Damn Anyway Ferne, plans for Tuesday?”
Joe McElhone (07/02/2017) tweeted: “Screaming Dan thought he’d actually found Ferne McCann on Tinder it’s a bl**dy Celebs Go Dating advert.”
Matthew Hendry (07/02/2017) tweeted: “hahaha happening lads guess who just matched Ferne McCann on Tinder.”
However, some of the Tinder users were not so easily convinced.
Charlie Gilding (08/02/2017) tweeted: “Feel like I’m getting catfished to f**k here, Ferne McCann want to weigh in?”
