2020 is officially the year of the staycation. Today, we’re keeping it incredibly local and taking a holiday in B-Town itself. Whether you live here, or are just visiting, this article will take you beyond the beachfront and help you plan your staycation with a difference.

Fancy a stroll?

Winter may be coming along quickly, but it’s still a wonderful time of year to take a brisk walk and take in the changing colour of the trees and the sunset across the sea. If you’re bored of the beach front, why not follow the Lower Gardens all the way up to Coy Pond?

Alternatively, catch the 4 from the Square and visit Stour Valley, a riverside nature reserve with a 7  mile loop path.

Coy Pond, still beautiful in autumn as the leaves change colour. Take some oats and seeds along to feed the ducks too.

Time for lunch

Forget the chains- support local businesses by indulging in taking yourself out for lunch. Try Dirty Vegans or Chaplin’s when next in Boscombe. Dirty Vegans serves everything from burgers to desserts, all completely cruelty free- perfect, even for a curious meat eater. Or maybe go for something more conventional with a Sunday roast or pub classics in Chaplin’s beautiful beer garden.

Chaplin’s beer garden. Still open until 10pm, known for quality food and spirits.

Finish the day with a night cap

It’s tempting to just opt for a Wetherspoons, however, Bournemouth is full of unique bars. If alternative music is your thing, try Zephyr or Anvil on Holdenhurst Road. Serving popular beers and spirits, both venues also play rock and metal anthems all day long. Why not give both of them a go? They’re only three minutes apart after all.

Enjoy your staycation in beautiful Bournemouth!
