Bournemouth’s Ultimate Christmas Guide

Yes, it’s Christmas again! Welcome to Nerve’s 12 days of Christmas! While some of you may be thinking it’s way too early to be thinking about the festive season, I know there’s others like me who whip out the Christmas tree straight after Halloween.

Here’s the best of Bournemouth this Christmas, from clubbing to great days out with friends.

BACK TO BASS:ICS – Winter Skankout

Where: Halo

When: 8th December, 10pm

Halo are bringing you the best of skankiness this December as Back to Bass:ics returns for their winter edition. It’ll be the best, and probably the only, festive drum and bass you’ll find in Bournemouth this Christmas. Get ready for a line-up of 6 DJs including Hedex and Enta.

Tickets are £10 on the door, and £8 in advance.

New Year’s Eve Party

Where: Halo

When: 31st December, 9pm

If the family gets overwhelming this Christmas and you feel like coming back to uni early, Halo’s got your back to avoid celebrating NYE alone. Head on over to the church for a classy night of champagne, the best DJs, glitter and glam. If you’re ready to start 2018 passed out on a kerb, then get tickets for the after party starting at 2am. Tickets for the after party go on sale 24th December, 7pm.

Tickets range from £10-£25

The Ice Ball

Where: The Old Firestation

When: 5th December, 9pm

The Old Firestation are quite literally rolling out the red carpet for you this December at their formal Ice Ball. You’ll also be greeted by snow machine on the door, along with plenty of Bailey’s cocktails.

Each room will be turned into a different winter wonder with upstairs featuring an Alpine Ski Lodge, and downstairs showcasing  the new  ‘Ice Cave Rave’. There’s even going to be a downhill ski simulator- a good combination with Bailey’s? Time can only tell.

Ticket’s £5 in advance.

Bournemouth Alpine Market

Where: Bournemouth Square

When: 17th November- 4th January

Set under beautiful lights in Bournemouth Centre, The Alpine Market is bringing you the best of Dorset this Christmas. The market is hosting a variety of local businesses this year from cosmetics to food, meaning you’ll definitely find something for everyone. If you’re looking for something a bit more grown up, stalls selling chocolate wine and ‘Brew House and Kitchen’ will also be there, giving you as much food and beer as you can take. UK Bratwurst Co is also bringing a bit of Germany to Bournemouth.

Santa’s Grotto in Bournemouth Square

Where: Bournemouth Square

When: 24th November – 24th December

It’s to to print out those Amazon wishlists because yes, that’s right, Santa’s coming to Bournemouth. It’s pretty pricey to go and visit, with one child plus a photo costing £12.95, but it might be worth the money if you have younger family members who still believe.

Bournemouth Ice Rink

Where: The Lower Gardens

When: 16th November – 2nd January

Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens have been turned into a winter wonderland with Bournemouth’s own ice rink. This year, Skate Bournemouth has added a dedicated ice rink just for kids alongside their main rink for all ages- perfect for training your younger siblings to become to new Michelle Kwan and pay off all your student debt.

The Alpine Lodge

Where: Bournemouth Square

When: When: 17th November- 4th January

Something I’m genuinely excited about this year is Bournemouth’s brand new two-storey Alpine Lodge. Basically all the best things about Christmas- meat, cheese, Baileys, mulled wine, beer- have all been crammed into the lodge and on the plus side, it’s super cosy. To make it even better, they’re even hosting quiz nights

There’s so much to do in Bournemouth this Christmas, whether you’re out on the town, or out with your family, there is something for everyone!

Stay tuned for Nerve’s 12 days of Christmas!
