Freshers is the time to get together with new coursemates, and new flat/housemates and go out and socialise. But not all freshers are the same. So, here’s all the different types of events you could go to over the next few weeks. There’s something to suit everyone.

Official We Are Freshers Club Night Events

  1. One Big Welcome Party – Saturday 15th September: Preluded by a FREE live gig by Sublime Barefoot, One Big Welcome Party is the first official SUBU freshers event held at The Old Fire Station
  2. Dick and Dom Freshers House Party – Sunday 16th September: Dick and Dom will be supported by Fire Station favourites Frau DJs who bring you cheese, pop and disco.

  3. Home Slice Welcome Party – Tuesday 18th September: Two rooms, with anthems in one room and indie/alternative in the other, AND free pizza? Seems like freshers heaven.
  4. Jaguar Skills – Thursday 20th September: Jaguar Skills played a set at this year’s Summer Ball (as well as a secret set) and is known as one of the UK’s biggest and best DJ’s
  5. The Student Garden Party – Saturday 22nd September: The annual mini freshers festival is back with 2 Event Areas, Funfair rides and outdoor bars.

Other favourite nights at The Old Fire Station are coming back as well: Lollipop, Applebum and Foreverland start back up during Freshers weeks.

Other Club Night Events

  1. Moving In Party – Sunday 16th September: With Commercial/Hip Hop/House music at Halo, based in an old church, this event is set to start your freshers off right.
  2. Seafront Thai Moon Party – Wednesday 19th September: This tropical beach style party at Aruba by the Pier will get you in a romantic thai mood.
  3. F*** Me It’s Freshers – Friday 21st September: Not only does the O2 Academy have a great atmosphere, but this event adds in canons, UV paint, a bucking rodeo and games! What’s not to love?
  4. The UV Jump Off – Tuesday 25th September: What sounds better than a UV night? How about a UV neon laser rave? 5 rooms playing different types of music, so there’s something to suit everyone, all whilst covered in UV paint carrying around neon inflatables.
  5. Freshers Festival with Yungen and B Young – Friday 28th September: Also at Cameo Nightclub, boasting 5 rooms including Vinyl Retro Bar. Yungen and B Young will join resident DJs to bring you live entertainment mixed with the biggest anthems.

Non-Club Night Events

  1. Lock & Key Night – Sunday 16th September: A great way to meet new people. Check in at the event to receive a lock and a key and try and find your match for a prize!
  2. The BIG Beach BBQ! – Wednesday 19th September: Sign up with BU Res Life to make sure you get some FREE tasty BBQ food, and then join in with the beach games.
  3. Comedy Central – Wednesday 19th September: Get laughing with live stand-up comedy from up and coming comedians.
  4. Bingo Lingo – Wednesday 26th September: A fun evening of bingo, games, dance-offs and general mischief.
  5. Jurassic Coast & Isle of Purbeck Tour – Saturday 29th September: Fancy something a little bit more chilled and scenic? Sign up to this all day tour of our Jurassic Coast and get some great photos of some iconic and historic sites.
