Your freshers guide | Where to eat this term

Moving to a new town can be overwhelming. With so much newness about, the easiest way is to stick with what you know and follow the chains. However, Bournemouth has so much dining goodness to offer than Nando’s and Zizzi’s… have a read and go visit some of the places below!

The Stable

Open only a month, The Stable took over the old tourist information office on Westover road. Specialising in fresh West Country pizza and pies, this Dorset born and bred restaurant also offers a serious selection of ciders. Keep an eye out for live music events, and pop in on Tuesday for their ‘Tuck in’ deal – where you get a pizza, pie or salad with a half pint of cider for only a tenner! Perfect for a midweek student treat.

Not only the best coffee shop in the town centre, South Coast Roast‘s aim is to make great tasting, fresh food that will have you coming back for more. Their soups are a winner for a quick lunch fix – for £5 you get a warming bowl served with a huge hunk of sourdough. I’ve tried the Thai Beetroot flavour so far and I can’t wait to go back!

With delicious cocktails and the best view in town, show your BU student card for 2-4-1 cocktails AND 2-4-1 pizza and burgers, all through Sunday-Friday. You have no excuse not to utilise this deal to your loans advantage!

The Globe Cafe

A Winton gem, The Globe serves a variety of homemade meals. With lovely service, free wifi AND breakfast options all day, this caf is one to have on your radar for a necessary full English and re vitalising smoothie.

Situated a little further out towards Poole, Coast prides itself on being a fine surf and coffee shop. With a locally sourced menu, pop in here for some smashed avo before exploring Bournemouth’s award winning beaches. Follow their instagram for daily posts of how beautiful your university town is!
