Joshua Coase’s Tracks Of The Week
Vera – Life Round Here
Vera is a relatively new up and coming artist from Copenhagen, Denmark and only started releasing his own tracks in August this year.
Life Round Here is his fourth offering to the world and it is a very intriguing number, opening with the sound of people chatting before a piano fades in and we here a male voice speaking what I believe to be in French.
Female vocals then enter the piece and is accompanied by an acoustic guitar, synths and even a saxophone in the Middle 8.
Vera has previously been named as Radio 1’s Artist Of The Month and his track In and Out of Love has more than 1.3 million streams on Spotify to date.
This producer is certainly one to watch out for in 2018!
Roy Woods – Little Bit Of Lovin
Roy Woods has just released his new Say Less and this is my favourite track featured on the album by the artist from Toronto, Canada.
Roy is signed to Drake’s label OVO Sound and his album certainly has a moody and atmospheric R&B vibe which would not sound out of place on a Drake record.
His tracks also sound similar to that of duo Majid Jordan, who were previously featured as my Album Of The Week on the show back in late October.
This particular track Little Bit Of Lovin combines the elements of Drake and Majid Jordan but production wise has a very Bruno Mars feel to it.
If that sounds appealing to you then you will love this track and the rest of Roy’s latest album!
First Aid Kit – Fireworks
First Aid Kit are preparing for the release of their new album Ruins, due for release on January 19th 2018 and Fireworks is their latest single.
It has been three years since the Swedish folk duo released their last album Stay Gold, which featured the wonderful track My Silver Lining.
First Aid Kit have a very unique sound, evident in sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg harmonies and distinctive Scandinavian vocals.
Once again like their previous single It’s A Shame, Fireworks has a very deep-rooted American country feel to the song, a style which the band also captured on their previous album.
This track is very different to the others featured on this list tonight, but do not be put off by that or by the fact that it is a folk song, give it a listen and it may broaden your horizons!
Will Robert – Sidelines
Will Robert is a singer-songwriter from Cambridgeshire and he has just released his latest single Sidelines, a track which will feature on his album due for release in Spring next year.
I spoke to Will last Friday about the new single and how his musical style has evolved since the release of his debut album City Lights in 2014.
The singer-songwriter has recently made the transition from acoustic guitar to electric guitar, as featured prominently in this track and he now has a band behind him to support him when performing live.
Sidelines is a track which Will describes as being centred around the individual bubbles that social media is creating for us and how concerned he is about it.
This song was inspired by, in Will’s words: “a collective awareness that we need to be careful how we consume information in the age of iPhones and social media”. It is about his personal journey of breaking out of his own confirmation bias formed by social media and society’s increasing immersion in it.
If you are a fan of indie-folk rock then you are going to love this new track from Will!

Miguel – War & Leisure
Miguel is a singer-songwriter and producer who has been around for over 10 years now and has released his fifth studio album.
After the success of his last two albums, both of which debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200 this latest release certainly shows signs of doing the same.
Miguel has previously worked with J. Cole, Big Sean, Jessie Ware and A$AP Rocky and boasts over 9 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The two tracks I have featured on the show this week are the opening track Criminal Feat. Rick Ross and Pineapple Skies, which is my personal favourite with it being a fun Kay, up-tempo track which is a contrast to others featured on the album.
If you are fans of Majid Jordan, dvsn and Brent Faiyaz, all of which I have previously played on the show then you like this new album from Miguel!
