Nerve Online brings you live updates from The Golden Globes 2018. Follow this post to keep up to date with the red carpet news, and the big winners.

4.09am

The Golden Globes are over for another year. There were a lot of expected winners, but people expected The Shape of Water to get more awards than they did – especially Best Motion Picture (Drama) which was won by Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Spielberg’s The Post didn’t manage to pick up any awards, despite being pegged as a potential winner, it was just pipped to the post each time.

Unsurprisingly Big Little Lies won many awards for TV, and The Handmaid’s Tale picked up a couple as well.

All in all a good ceremony, no big upsets.

Were the winners what you expected?

Nominations for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy are: I, Tonya, Lady Bird, The Disaster Artist, Get Out, and The Greatest Showman.

The first thing I thought when I saw these nominations is that Get Out is neither a Musical or a Comedy, but that said it is an outstanding movie which is definitely up there. But the front runner for this category at the moment is Lady Bird. Personally my favourite is The Greatest Showman, but I understand why it is potentially not a favourite with the board.

8.43pm

Nominations for Best Motion Picture – Drama are: Call Me By Your Name, Dunkirk, The Post, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

The front runner for this seems to be Del Toro’s The Shape of Water, but Three Billboards could also be up there.

The red carpet event for The Golden Globes begins at 6pm ET/3pm PT/11pm GMT tonight. It will be a star studded event with many actors and actresses choosing to wear black as part of the Time’s Up initiative which aims to fight systemic sexual harassment, assault and inequality. Such as Uzo Aduba, star of Orange Is the New Black, who says she is wearing black “Because your fight is my fight. Because enough is enough.” Other stars joining the movement include Kerry Washington, Ashley Judd and Mark Ruffalo.
