Five TV Shows You Should Be Watching

Nerve takes a look at the most talked about recent TV shows you should be watching when procrastinating!

Student-to-student, whether we care to admit it or not we often find ourselves with a little too much time on our hands, asking the inevitable question:What TV show or film should I watch?

postWell you’re in luck because I have compiled a list of five TV shows you should be watching… that is if you aren’t already. TV shows that will provide entertainment whatever the circumstance may be. So whether you have returned home from a seemingly boring lecture, finished a shift at that part-time job or maybe you’re simply nursing that debilitating hangover… you can question, laugh or perhaps grow envious with the various TV Shows I’ve selected.

Making a Murderer

tv showsNow unless you have been living under a rock for the past few months, most of you will be aware of the hype surrounding this documentary series on Netflix. After receiving frequent exciting texts from my sister, I caved and decided to give this show a watch. Four episodes in and it’s safe to say I am hooked.

This series was filmed over the course of ten years and focuses on Steven Avery, a Wisconsin man who spent 18 years in jail before DNA evidence proved his innocence. However, following his release Avery is quickly accused of another crime: murder. This series leaves you on the edge of your seat, and seriously questioning the American legal system.

Bp 3Keeping Up with the Kardashians

Ever wondered how the other half live? Well you’re in luck as this show gives you an insight into one of Hollywood’s ‘leading’ families and a controversial one to say the least. I have been a fan of the show from the beginning and as a naive 13 year old even made the irrational decision to sleep in a car park to get a glimpse of the stars of the show…yes this is a very sad admission I am aware.

The show certainly doesn’t disappoint on the drama front. It is on its eleventh season, seemingly reflecting its popularity. It primarily focuses on Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian. So although nothing-quite screams ‘car crash TV’ like Keeping up, Kim’s dramatic nature combined with Scott’s witty character leaves us tuning in every week and discussing the various episodes amongst our friends. So basically what’s not to love?

FriendsBp 4

I find myself asking whether I should even write a synopsis for this show, I mean hasn’t everyone watched Friends?

However, if you do find yourself amongst the few who haven’t, Friends is a comedy series, based on six individuals in there 20s who are attempting to navigate their lives both professionally and personally in the bustle of New York. Friends lasted 10 years and is guaranteed to leave you incessantly laughing throughout…and who knows maybe Joey Tribiainis classic pick up line, “How you doin?” will work for you in Cameo.

Luther Luther

In my eyes, this series is heavily underrated. Luther is a British crime drama series on its fourth season and follows the dedicated yet highly passionate police detective Luther, who is frequently plagued by the violent crimes with which he deals. This gripping series is definitely worth the watch and with the starring actor, Idris Elba, scoring two Golden Globe nominations for his performance, I hope this is enough convincing for you to realise this show is worth the watch.

One Tree Hillpost 2

Ever heard the saying save the best till last? This is clearly why One Tree Hill is my final choice. If you’re not a fan of cheesy, unrealistic (yet brilliant) relationships, this may not be the series for you.

One Tree Hill is set in North Carolina and in the early seasons revolved around the relationship between two half brothers Nathan and Lucas Scott. Throughout the nine seasons, we see our favourite characters tackling the roadblocks, which many of us stumble upon in life.  One Tree Hill is officially on Netflix so take a watch, particularly if you need Brooke Davis to teach you a lesson or two on how to be a total badass.

A few of my friend’s personal favorites:

Orphan Black

Game of Thrones

Celebrity Big Brother

The Man in the High Castle

Pretty Little Liars

Dance Moms

The Vampire Diaries
