#PMforPM? Journalist and presenter Piers Morgan, took to twitter on Tuesday to share his desire of becoming the next Prime Minister of the UK.
Although the bid was in jest, Morgan would not be the first person outside of the political realm to become a leader of a nation.
Remember, Donald Trump was a businessman before he became one of the most powerful leaders in the world as president of the United States.
This is not the first time the journalist has teased about dipping into politics. In November 2016, Piers Morgan hinted that becoming PM wasn’t entirely out of the question in wake of the Trump victory in the US.
Twitter was left divided over the prospect however. Some tweeters expressed their support for the Good Morning Britain host, while others stated Morgan would struggle to get voters on side.
The former editor of the Daily Mirror is not one to shy away from controversy, and has left many people and guests on his shows offended by his comments.
Most recently, the broadcaster suffered backlash after proceeding into a non-binary debate with guests on GMB, who did not identify as male or female. Morgan’s comments received criticism from viewers of the ITV breakfast show.
However, Piers has been commended for speaking his mind and being honest about his opinions. So would this play in his favour if he was to run as leader of the nation? If so, what policies would he implement?
Only time will tell. Maybe in 2022 or 2027, we could see Piers Morgan running a real political campaign.
